If you look at the home page I have raised a post where someone else is researching the Bowd family.

 There's only one John Bowd born in England between 1894 and 1916 - John Jeffreys Denison Bowd in Islington in the Dec quarter 1908, mother's maiden name Tarrant;

In 1911 (deleted)

Freebmd has a marriage in Cambridge in the Sept quarter 1903 between Herbert Edwin Bowd and Florence Amelia Tarrant which ties together very nicely.

Florence A Bowd age 38 died in Islington in the June quarter 1919 and Herbert E Bowd appears to have remarried to Leah I Brooks or Brooke in Islington in the Dec quarter 1921.

So this takes you back to Cambridgeshire. I've done a lot of work on the Cambs Bowds or Bouds. I'll have a look and see if I can fit Herbert into my Bowds. Later: I can. I'll put details of the Cambs Bowds on your Cambs thread later tonight, after my scheduled meeting with a barman
