Burial of William Bray
« on: Wednesday 10 May 17 07:40 BST (UK) »
Another one for you clever people.
I can read most of it, apart from,  was buried ? ..looks like Add or Odd house?

And why would his Lordship pay all debts?

I think his Lordship is paying all "dues" - so he paid for the burials etc. (possibly Burial in Woollen)

Isn't "Little Ashby Lordship" a place as in

Definition of lordship
the territory under the jurisdiction of a lord

and the house pays dues to both the Lordship and the Lein.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

There are two villages - Leire or Leir and Ashby (Parva) - in Leicestershire.

The burials were at Leire.

Transcription:
March 31. William Bray an old Man of 74 was buried from an odd
House in the Grounds in Little Ashby Lordship reputed jointly to belong to
Little Ashby & Leir, paying dues to both

He, William Bray, paid dues to both Little Ashby Lordship and Leir, as the house belonged to both.

Oh thank you so much.
Funny I was reading yesterday, how the two villages had a dispute on who was to pay rates to which village, he must of lived on the boarder of both.  People where complaining that they were paying two lots of rates one to Ashby and the other to Leire.  Why this never clicked with the burial of William is beyond me.
