Italian Community Woking Get-together
« on: Wednesday 10 May 17 05:36 BST (UK) »
Hi ... I'm a volunteer with the Anglo-Italian FHS and am looking at arranging a get together of a small group of our members in July in Woking. I know of the large Italian community and the Italian cemetery at Brookwod and would like to use a venue that is Italian themed ... can anyone recommend a suitable location?

Hi Rosemarie

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

I've created this new topic for you and moved it to the current board where there is more chance of it being seen here.

You may also want to duplicate this topic in the Common Room or events.

Good luck, I hope you get some good suggestions.

Woking has several "proper" Italian restaurants if that appeals (plus the usual run of  "Zizzis" and "Carluccios").

There is  an Italian Mission

the priests there may be able to help.

There is also a Woking Italian Group on FB

and an Italian language school

The Woking Group of West Surrey FHS meet in the Trinity Methodist Hall, maybe 15 minutes from Woking railway station.

Not terribly Italian but a couple of nice halls.

Being of Irish rather than Italian descent I have gleaned these from Google and a walk through the town  :)

A word of warning though -- Woking Town Centre has major roadworks lasting until Christmas.  The knock on from these can have effects over quite a wide area. I usually advise people to come by train if they can,  or allow plenty of extra time if travelling by road.
