Hi

Looking for the birth/baptism of
Phoebe Alice Newell - born on the 23rd March 1883 (according to 1939 register), or 23rd March 1882, according to her death registration.
She married Harry Evans in Staffordshire on the 31st March 1902 (age given as 19 years). She gave her place of birth as Bloxwich and left the same blank for father's name and profession.
Witnesses were George Evans (Harry's brother) and Phoebe Alice Newell - who was she????

Can anybody trace Phoebe in 1891 or find her baptism?

The family relocated to Sunderland and were living in 17 Castle Street, Castle town in 1911 with their three children; Florence May, Maud and James Edward.
By 1939 they had moved to 17 Banor Street South, Sunderland; Phoebe died in Sunderland in 1978.

How about this one as there is a doubt about her year of birth?

On the GRO birth index no mother's maiden name is listed for the birth that Groom posted

So she was right on her marriage certificate when she omitted a father's name. But, again, doubt about year of birth.

Not really that unusual for birth dates to be out by a year or so, may be she added a bit when she married.

 ??? A puzzle,  just who was the "other"  Phoebe Alice Newell a witness at the marriage? I have located a Phoebe Harriet Newell b 1865 Bloxwich who had at least  1 son a Samuel b 1888 prior to marriage to an Alcock, but no Phoebe Alice?

Did the witness Phoebe Alice Newell sign her name? Could it be an error when the register was copied up, the bride's name entered by mistake?

Pheobe Alice Newell married Harry Evans 3/1902 Crannock 6b 693

Phoebe Alice Newell married either John Thomas or Joseph Westwood Dudley 6c 181

Not sure how far apart these two districts are although both are in Staffordshire, but my point is to do with the spelling of Pheobe/Phoebe.
