Thomas Metcalfe listed 1 Regent Street, New Shildon, in 1912 and 1913
Not listed there in 1915, is a Christopher Reed there

There's a Thomas + Margaret Metcalfe listed in New Shildon after WW1, but she is Margaret Selina, so unfortunately I think they are a different couple.

Just to rule out another Margaret Metcalfe who died in 1915 - would it be possible for someone to find the name on the electoral roll 1911-1915 for 13 Lawrence Street, Darlington - thankyou

Sorry to ask a sideways question but fascinated by the answers on this thread. Can I ask what resource do you use for local electoral rolls to find out what you did?
Thanks

Depending on who the county archives are working with there are some historic ones on Ancestry and some on FindMyPast who are working with the British Library to digitise their collection.

If they're not online you'll need to go locally and look in person.

The only library with free full access is in Utah. There may be more of them but Utah is the only one I know of.

There are council libraries in the UK that have free access to the 1939 register on F M P  ;D

WELL FINALLY - it just took 5 months but I have received the correct death certificate today YAY

My aaarrrggghhh moment was that I could have had the certificate months ago as I ordered it with a last known address but was refunded - Margaret died at the address I gave!

Now I can move on - NEVER GIVE UP ROOTSCHATTERS ☺
