Android phone contacts
« on: Thursday 11 May 17 19:56 BST (UK) »
Hi all, badly in need of some advice. I bought my first smart phone a couple of years ago and because it's now faulty I need to buy a new phone and sim card. I have built up quite a few contacts and don't know how to save them from my old phone or transfer them to the new one. I'm not even sure where they are stored.  ???

Why not take it into the store where you are getting the new one from and ask them to do it, most offer this service.

Certain phones use micro sim cards which require a normal card to be cut down.
Taking your old phone takes out any uncertainty of original card not fitting new phone. :)

I have just bought my first proper mobile phone, I had a Nokia 100 for 18 years before that  ;D

As I am with 02 I took it into one of their shops and a nice young girl got me a new much smaller SIM and swopped all my old contacts over to the new one for no charge.

If your contacts are saved on (say) a gmail account, you just login with the new handset to the gmail account and there they all are. You don't even need a sim in the new phone to do this.

Many thanks for all your replies. I took the advice offered on here and took my old phone to the mobile phone provider (not sure that I can say which one on here) store that I wanted to buy a new phone from and they were brilliant!

I now have a lovely new phone, sim card and able to keep my old telephone number, plus the guy in the store even sorted out my contacts too! Well happy.

I think the fact they gave such good service means you could mention them! Good to hear that you've got it sorted.

I didn't even buy my new mobile from the shop that helped me,I bought it from a friend.
But I did stick with them to provide my pay as you go phone minutes and they were happy to help and keep me as a customer.

Glad you got sorted.
