Also, the boat off to the left, is that a fishing boat or military?  ???

I can't help with where, but I think the ship looks military.

Could be Shanklin? The problem with piers is that they change over time, with bits added or removed or completely rebuilt.

Here are a couple of old pictures of Shanklin pier. Looks good but some of the on pier bits are different.

Me too, so I'm wondering if that could date it to the war years.

I have to say they are all very similar, but I think the end building's roof is different, but that's not conclusive of course.
