I noticed that for the 2011 census the instructions were to write down the people who normally lived at the address, even if they were elsewhere, rather than those who were actually there on census night. Visitors were only counted, not named, as they ought to have been on their own forms at home.

Sort of spoils it for 2021.

I've just checked and in 2001 visitors were named, and their usual address given.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
