Staffordshire County council elections 1952 Rowley & Tividale wards
« on: Saturday 13 May 17 12:36 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I am currently researching my great-grandfather who ran for election in 1952 for the Rowley Regis and Tividale wards of Staffordshire County Council.

My great-grandfather George Wood, was an independent candidate living at Blackheath and I have been sent a flyer which probably would have been delivered to homes in the area.  He led a self-funded campaign and visited convalescent homes in order to meet people in order to get himself elected.  He was also a representative of the Red Cross Society, and was also on the Local War and pensions committee.

Does anyone know of any further help I could get with finding out more about historical local elections at this time.  I was told by a contact that a group at Oldbury may be interested but have forgotten their details.

Could this be the group?
