If not already, I would obtain the marriage cert for Ada Lewin to see if a father is named. Having her birth cert with no father named or details are extremely suspect, for a number of reasons.

Also not able to find a Pryke/Lewin marriage all counties within timeframe.

Unable to find a suitable death of a Lewin between 1886/7  -  1890 in area.

Hope some of the info is of help

Thanks so much for that info, It's great......

On Ada's birth certificate it has her as being born in 1887 at Catworth, Her name on cert is Ada Isobel LEWIN her Mothers name was Eliza PRYKE (Widow)

Eliza married Stephen Luff in 1890 3 years after she was born https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2DCJ-6NV

so probably Mr Lewin? died whilst she was pregnant with Ada
which leaves me with the LEWIN dilemma

Thanks again

I don't know about anyone else, but I have never seen the ages of the parents given on their child's Birth Certificate.

Eliza's birth was registered Sept Qtr 1867. Ada's birth was registered June Qtr 1887, so Eliza was not even 20 years old when she had her. Did she add a couple of years to make herself look old enough to have been married and widowed?

Good luck with the cert Chris, hope it holds some info.

Keep us updated if possible :)

Just curious, but does the BC for Ada have an address? Sometimes it can be helpful in finding a possible connection....

Hi
This might be grabbing at straws, but looking on FreeBMD for districts Huntingdon and St Neots for the time period 1881-1891 there are several deaths:
Lewin, Charlotte, 73, Huntingdon Dec 1884
Lewin, William, 79, Huntingdon Sep 1887
Lewin, Harriet, 20, St. Neots Mar 1889
Lewin, Jonathan, 67, St. Neots Mar 1889
Lewin, Mary Ann, 72, Huntingdon 3b164 Mar 1889
Lewin, Thomas, 67, St. Neots Sep 1891

The only likely ones are William in 1887 and Jonathan in 1889.
So looking in 1881 for Jonathan finds him in Brington with wife and family, but looking in 1891 finds his widow Emma in Tilbrook (4.6 miles away) so Eliza Pryke could not have been housekeeper for him!
Looking in 1881 for William finds him in Ellington with his wife Charlotte, his wife dies in 1884, so he would need a housekeeper for 1884-1887! I appreciate that William is a bit of a long shot because of his age but he still seems to have been working as a mole catcher in 1881. And Ellington is only 6 miles away from Catworth.
