Belgium - Help with birth
« on: Monday 15 May 17 11:07 BST (UK) »
This is the first time I have gone beyond the UK, so not sure of the procedure.

I am looking for the birth of Albert Roos.  I have found his death in the UK and his dob is given as 26 August 1885.

I would appreciate help or advice please.

There is no national database for Belgium. There are some bits on http://search.arch.be/ and on familysearch and other places but no guarantee.

Also if he was the man who married in Lincoln in 1919 (I'm going by the 1939 which I guess is where you got his birthdate), it is very likely he was in the army in WWI so army records could be a route for you.

 - however, only records for officers are complete here, letter R hasn't been done yet but you could try their email (the one starting cdoc)

The other thing is to look at geneanet for other researchers. Here, we get lucky:
http://gw.geneanet.org/beufkens?n=roos&oc=&p=albert+cesar
 - this man b. 26 August 1885 Renaix - father Léon ROOS, watchmaker, if you have his marriage certificate that should line up. This tree does indicate that Albert César ROOS may have been married before.

Here is his birth (bottom left)

Here is his marriage in 1909 (left)

Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thank you so much for this.  Albert was also a watchmaker, so that fits well!  He married my husband's grandmother in 1919 in Lincoln, so it would be interesting to know how they met.  I need someone to translate for me now!

Thanks again
