Corrine,

Although I am not a handwriting expert, it looks to me that the three signatures of your great-great-grandfather are all compatible with each other.

Perhaps, over time, more crew lists will become available online - to enable you to fill in the gaps in his seagoing history.

Thank you Willyam. My next challenge is to find when and where my great-great-grandfather married Clarissa Beysseresse. On a ship maybe ?

Corrine & Seaweed,

I now believe (by deciphering the captain's handwriting) that the ship that Charles Wilfred Paris was on before he joined the "Snow Queen" was the (British) barque "Kentigern". What do you think?

In a copy of the Lloyd's List of 6 June 1881 (on page 11 & in Findmypast) is a report (under the heading "Speakings") of it being passed by the "Cambrian Prince" at Havre on 20 May - whilst en route from Antwerp to Philadelphia.

Hi Willyam,
thanks for this new discovery. What about Clarissa's ship ? Foreign ? A ship's name or did she come from a foreign ship or from abroad ?
I'm not really accustomed to naval vocabulary  :-\
Concerning her job on board, her son told my mother, (when she was a child), that Clarissa was maid on boats. But here, it doesn't seem to be.

Hello Ray and thanks a lot for these informations. Are you able to decipher the document I sent in attachment ? I mean, I don't understand why my gg-grandfather received this medal and what he was doing during WW1.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Corrine, I don't have any information on the medals but here is a link to Wikipedia which may answer some of you questions:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercantile_Marine_War_Medal

But it may be useful to you to post the query on the Armed Forces board (WW1).  I have always had really good results from that board.

Just found this which again may be useful to you:
