WILLIAM KEDERT b 1813
« on: Monday 15 May 17 18:33 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am looking for family or information on the KEDERT family. William KEDERT sometimes says he was born in Brecknockshire, sometimes in Radnorshire. On one census he says he was born in Llanwothyn, but where is Llanwothyn?
I have also seen the name as
KODART - KEDART- KIDDART - KEDARD - KIDDERT  and so it goes on. They may also be related to the KEDWARD family.

Is anyone researching this family please?

Avril

could it be Llanwrthwl - misheard perhaps? That's the nearest parish name I can see in Breconshire & Radnorshire, and it's close to the border of the two old counties

by the way, in case you've not found their marriage,  it seems his name has been badly mistranscribed. I worked this out from the mother's maiden name of his son Theophilus

There's a 30th Dec  1815 baptism for a base born William, son of Thos Bedward (as transcribed), Old Radnor and Mary Pugh, of this parish (Llanwrthwl).

Original image could be Kedward?

thank you all so much for this,
Mabel Bagshawe and Keyboard 86-
you're right. Ancestry will not find me the 1851 census but FindMyPast found it, showing the place of birth more clearly, but I still don't think I could have transcribed it without your help.
I found his marriage  OK< thank heavens for unusual names, I'm up to my ears in Williams.
Hanes telu -
Kedward has thrown me off the scent before now as I have that name in another branch. I did not pursue it very far as it is not my direct line, now I'll take it further.
Where can I find parish records on line for Brecon and Radnor apart from Family Search? It does not go back far enough for me. I have heard that FS are going to digitise everything they have and put it online but I'm too impatient. When your ancestors are from hamlets in the least populated county, you don't seem to be first in the queue!  thanks again, Avril
