I have the 1861 transcribed OK by Ancestry.

thanks for the newspaper cutting, I tend not to bother with papers as I find FindMyPast poorly indexed, but I will use the Welsh site now. I assume William lost the haulier job as from then on he is  a labourer. I noticed the bit about 'Upper Yard' coal being sold to customers but 'lower yard' coal going to employees. They probably got the rubbish my Nan used to call 'slack'.

I, too, noticed the distinction in treatment between "customers".

Best of luck with search. William's surname is a nightmare in some respects, but even so how much better than a Jones or Evans or Thomas in this neck of the woods!)
