Is it just me or does it sound odd that a soldier of an Irish Regiment is recorded outside the barracks in England.
Would they not have been recorded on a barracks form no matter where they lived as they are in Ireland, or was that just a thing they did in Ireland.

Hi, further info has come to light. Christopher's army bible confirms his military number as 2211. His records have narrowed down his sob as between Dec 1886and Jan 1887. Question, i am not sure of his actual son but if I ordered all births Cerys are they the same as English gro records that work on quarters and is there an Irish gro system to look at. Thanks John

don't forget to look at the ones with no first name, listed as Unknown.

Hi, Christopher's enlistment records show as nok a brother Richard who is younger than him. I now believe that Christopher has lied about his age when enlisting in 1905. How old would he needed to be to enlist. My thoughts are he said he was 18 and 1
month rather than 17and one month. My reasoning being I have found the marriage of a Thomas Byrne to a Mary doesn't in June 1887 with a Christopher born 3.12.1887. Also a brother Richard 1889 and a Thomas 1891. If I made a sideways search of brother Richard i.e. A marriage can these Cerys from c1910 be viewed online to see if the father is a Thomas who's occupation is stoker? Thanks john

Surely there must be some addresses mentioned in his record ?
