There a possibility of another marriage in Plymouth in 1918 for you to take a look at

James H Peek to A A Milton

FreeBMD has transcribed middle initial as an N but original looks to read H

Ladyhawk - thank you.

I have just ordered the marriage certificate - it certainly looks as though this could be wife no 4 for my great grandfather....

Ladyhawk - certificate has arrived and he did indeed have four wives - his third wife France Reed died 1914 and he married Agnes Alice Milton on 18 August 1918 he was 57 years and she was 30 years.

I have been trying to trace information on Agnes Milton but with no luck - I worked out she was born in 1888 and she has put on the marriage cert that her father is Charles Milton (deceased) a railway station master and that she was a spinster.

Nothing seems easy where my great grandfather was concerned.

Thanks for all your help.

I'm not having much luck either  ???

Tried looking for a birth reg. c1888 plenty of Agnes Alice's but none with surname Milton  ???

I then wondered if she might be Scottish but I can't see a birth reg. c 1888 on SP either  ???

Who were the witnesses? Might they be a family member?

Did Agnes have an occupation?
What was her address?

Have you found her death entry ? - that might provide her dob

Hi

Her address at the time of her marriage was 12 Plym Street, Plymouth.  And, the two witnessed were James Henry's sister (Margaret) and brother-in-law Henry (surname Glinn).

I have also been searching for a death certificate but no luck yet.

Regards

Elly
