Henry James Long and Ada Florence Thomas
« on: Wednesday 17 May 17 17:59 BST (UK) »
This couple marry in Bristol in 1897.
Henry is aged 23, Ada is aged 21.
Her father is James Thomas.
His father is John Long.
I do not have the marriage certificate and would ideally like to avoid buying it. This info pops up in ancestry as a transcript so no occupations, addresses or witnesses listed.
Who do fellow routes chatters think they are and what becomes of them?
I would like to see if others agree with me so I won't say too much more.
By the way there is a tree featuring them in ancestry but they do not look to be direct descendants and I am doubtful of its accuracy (descendents listed definitely incorrect).

Do you mean that you have information which you're withholding from those who are willing to help you?  If so that is not very helpful.

Please could you be a bit clearer on what you'd like help with, and provide all the relevant information you've got?

Caithness: MacGregor
Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)
Hants: Stares (Wickham)
Lincs: Maw, Jackson (Epworth, Belton)

No that's not the case, it is as I stated. I have no personal knowledge of them at all. Also no knowledge of who they are of further documents other than that.  I wondered  I cannot find them together after their marriage and instead of biasing roots chatters with possible theories I wanted to see what others thought.

Well it looks at least possible that the marriage had failed/ended by the time of the 1901 census, Henry then back with parents John & Martha as "single", and that later that year he went on to marry Lil(l)y Brunetta Jones.

Is that a hypothesis you'd like help with investigating? I am still not clear.

Yes that's what I wondered but it's an easy conclusion to come to as the names and ages (almost) match however I cannot find an obvious candidate for Ada in 1901 or 1911 so I was hoping some more knowledgeable rootchatters might be able to find her or show that Henry James Long was a different man.

They're transcribed as Lay on Ancestry

Possible birth

LONG, GRACE  MARGARET   mmn THOMAS
Q3 1898 KEYNSHAM  Volume 05C  Page 609

LONG, WILFRED  HENRY      mmn THOMAS
Q3 1900  GREENWICH  Volume 01D  Page 1003

(note: the image is not good so could easily be misread as William)
