What happened to William Whitehead
« on: Wednesday 17 May 17 19:40 BST (UK) »
Hi there,
I am trying to figure out what happened to William Whitehead. I know he was baptised on 1st October 1786 in Liverpool. His parents were James Whitehead and Ellen Jones. His father James was originally from North Wales. He was their first child. They moved to London a few years later and had more children. I have able to trace all the children in London apart from William. I'm assuming he died as a baby/boy but cannot find any records to confirm that.
Any records relating to him would be much appreciated
Thank you
Vicky

I guess they didn't name a subsequent child William which would infer the first one had passed away.

Would he have been old enough to be left alone in Liverpool when the family moved?

There's a burial in 1793 St Paul Liverpool

William son of James
Abode Old Hall Street

Have you got an occupation/add for James from the baptism?  This one was a mariner.

The baptism of William, son of James and Ellen (nee Jones) in 1786 says father was a mason.  ;)

They had another child in London in 1792 Edward. So William wasn't old enough to venture out on his own.

I did see the burial in 1793 but discounted it as they were in London by then and I guess if father was a mariner then that's definitely not him. Thanks all do far for your help
I suppose it's possible they went somewhere else in between maybe?

Thanks for that Maddy.
I know he went to London and died there in 1830. It's William who is still the mystery!
