I've been trying on and off to find something useful but no joy, can I just ask where was Patrick born? Do you have his birth cert?

Siannan,
I thought I was the only one :)

Myself and some of his relatives have been searching but without success.
He stated on his army attestation papers that his birthplace was Bagenalstown in Co. Carlow. Not something you can make up.
I don't know whether he was Catholic or Protestant. His parents were Richard Lloyd and Annie McKenzie. So I think we have Scottish ,Irish and Welsh connections.
I have tried every permutation but without success.
Any help is appreciated.

I had a quick look for Patrick and he is proving illusive to me also

I noticed on his army records that he is shown as aged 23 years and 270 days on Nov 25 1914; as this is very specific it implies he was born c. Feb 28 1891. However, further on it states aged 23 years and 230 days which would be c. Apr 09 1891 but still implies a birth in that year.

The second thing that I notice is that on the certificate of his second marriage in 1917 he is shown as Patrick James Lloyd a furnaceman; whereas his army records and first marriage refer to him as Patrick Joseph either a Horse Shoer or a driver.  Have you obtained a copy of his first marriage certificate from 1915 to see what that states as his parents incase there was any fibbing going on!

Lastly to point out the obvious, his Aunt Mrs. Mary Keogh you could assume would have been either the sister of one of his parent i.e. nee Lloyd or nee Mackenzie.  The Mrs Mary Keogh at Brighton Avenue in 1901 and 1911 was formerly named MOYLAN and I don't immediately see a marriage that  matches.

I'd say we are all doing the same type of searches, the only place I could find Lloyd and McKenzie together was a marriage in Cork where the bride was a Lloyd and the witness a McKenzie.

Is there a occupation for Richard the father on any of the marriages?

He's unlikely to be a Steel Smelter in Carlow, might be worth looking for an Army record for him.

I understand from his family that there was no previous marriage. The "lady" in question was not married to him and was much older. His army records were revised to show his next of kin as his aunt Mrs Mary Keogh.
He was released from the army for war work in Glasgow where he was a "smelter". He enlisted in Leith,Edinburgh.
I don't know how he moved from Carlow to Leith to Glasgow.
I dont have any further information on his parents.
I cant find a marriage for a Lloyd or a McKenzie to a Keogh using Genealogy Ireland.ie
So i'm afraid back to square one.
Thanks to every one for their efforts.

There is a Mrs Mary Keogh from Carlow living in Terenure in 1911 but her maiden name is Tallon
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Terenure/Harold_s_Cross_Road/47249/
just posting in case the name Tallon turns out to be connected at some point.
There is one more married and one widowed Mary Keogh in Dublin from Carlow but neither are in Terenure.
