Harvey family, Derryloran, Cookstown, Tyrone.
« on: Thursday 18 May 17 14:22 BST (UK) »
Arthur HARVEY was a tenant of James C Lowry and held land, plot 9 at Coolkeeghan according to Griffith's valuation of 1859.

From the parish records of Derryloran (CI) it appears that Arthur's wife was Jane and they had the following children, year of birth/baptism in brackets):

James (1837)
Ellen (1839)
William (1845)
Hamilton (1848/9)
Alexander (1852/3)
John (1855)

Does anyone have any further information about this family? I think it is the same Hamilton Harvey on the 1901 and 1911 census. He was a carpenter and lived at Loy.

I am especially interested in Alexander though.

Arthur died in 1878 age 66 according to the parish record.

The above family were in Cookstown.

All we know about my husband's Great-Grandfather is his name, his father's name and occupation (from his marriage certificate), an approximate date of birth (from the English census) and that his birthplace was Tyrone (again from the English census).

The Cookstown family matches the sparse facts we do have but I am really grasping at straws. Harvey isn't a common surname and Arthur Harvey / Alexander Harvey also appears to be a rare combination.

Thanks Hallmark. The file won't load for me as the server I am using at the moment can't cope with a file that large..... when I get home i will see if I can look then.

I've found a possible death for Arthur and one for his wife Jane [edit - you have found them as well! I will order certificates when I get home, in Ireland at the moment on holiday and to do a bit of research in churchyards but drawn a blank so far] but nothing that fits for Alexander which means I can't rule out this Alexander as "ours".

Family stories say two or more of the brothers went to Canada so I was hoping someone would recognise the names and be able to help.
