I wonder if the sibling/siblings worked at the colliery, Moorends was mainly built for the influx of colliers coming into the area.

Thanks everyone, but if the Walters had moved to Oakmoor Road by 1959 then they aren't who I'm looking for as the address on the passenger list was 46 Barnsley Road, Moorends, Doncaster.

The person travelling to England was John O'Toole and I was hoping the address was one of his 'missing' brothers James or Edward Toole/O'Toole.

I'm awaiting some certificates, but from what I've pieced together so far the brothers were born in Middlesbrough to their mother's second marriage, but their father died in late 1911 and their mother married again in South Shields RD in 1917 & was living at Hebburn until her death in 1935.

I traced John (b 1905) to America, and another brother, William b 1904, joined the Merchant Navy & is believed to have settled in Grimsby.  James 1908 & Edward 1911 are still a mystery though, so I was hoping the Doncaster address related to one or other of them.

I hadn't realised the electoral registers were on Anc* as I couldn't initially find them on the card catalog, which I've always found difficult to use.

Anyway, I've now found the 1959 entry for 46 Barnsley Road (thanks Redroger for pointing me to Goole) and the family is connected through the two wives, who share the same maiden name.

Thanks for all the help, but I guess it's back to the drawing board for finding Edward & James O'Toole.

A complication, unless Moor ends was in Don Valley in 1927 ( possible but unlikely)  then the 46 Barnsley  Road is NOT correct. I lived on Barnsley  Road  Scawsby  Doncaster  (Don Valley)  from May 1970 until April  2007

Sorry, I'm not understanding the complication?

The relevant page on the 1959 Electoral Register states the following:
Parliamentary County Constituency:  Goole
Polling District: Thorne Moorends (BC)
Township: Thorne - Moorends Ward
County Electoral Division: Thorne
Post Town: Doncaster
MORGAN: Glamorgan, Durham, Ohio. DAVIS/DAVIES/DAVID: Glamorgan, Ohio.  GIBSON: Leicestershire, Durham, North Yorkshire.  RAIN/RAINE: Cumberland.  TAYLOR: North Yorks. BOURDAS: North Yorks. Reply No 9 refers to Don Valley which is right for Barnsley  Road Doncaster.
The Barnsley  Road Moorends Doncaster was in Goole constituency  until 1983 Therefore  there is no problem.
