I do not think he was killed in a mining accident. I could not find him on Durham Mining Museum site.

Inst or Instant is the way of saying a date in the same month as something is published.

In other words I received your letter today 18th May 2017 but it was posted  on 11 May instant. 8 days seems a long time. I wonder if it was the bad storms.

The Durham County Advertiser 25 Dec 1863 also has his death notice,  the only difference being his first name has been abbreviated to Richd.
Dent (Haltwhistle and Sacriston), Bell and Jetson (Haltwhistle), Postle, Ward, Longstaff, Purvis, Manners, Parnaby and Hardy (Co. Durham), Kennedy and McRobert (Banffshire), Reid(Bathgate), Watson (Wemyss), Graham (Libberton), Sandilands (Carmichael), Munro (Dingwall)

The death reference for 'Richard Bowmer' is 1863 OND Durham 10a 166 (GRO)

What i am trying to find, without any luck, is the above on ancestry so i can print the record out (the page with loads of names on).

I know people like a challenge  (and someone may find it within minutes where i take hours!)

Thanks ☺

BTW His real name is Richard Bulmer.

I can't immediately see it on Ancestry, but why don't you access the original index page via freeBMD? It's definitely there.
