Good Morning,
I'm looking for some advice and help. I have been looking into my Irish roots. I have taken an Ancestry DNA test and it tells me I'm 13% Irish and my mother is 37% Irish. It told me it was in the Ulster area of Ireland. Also, the name Palmer is more of a northern Irish surname.
The connection to Ireland is my 2 x Great Grandfather who was born in Ireland (1901/1911 Census Coatbridge Death Cert) I can't find a birth cert. On Samuels Marriage certificate it states mother as Margaret Palmer Nee Neilson. and Father being Samuel Palmer deceased farm laborer (1895 Marriage)
His mother was Margaret Jane Neilson/Palmer died in Coatbridge 1920 her father was John Neilson and Mother Mary Harvey (Can't find anything connecting these names) I thought maybe the names are wrong.. but Samuel named one of his children Peggy Jane Neilson Palmer. I have tried wildcard searches on the names. I have found a Will connecting a Margaret with a Samuel Palmer and a newspaper clipping connecting the names but nothing else.
The last strange thing is Samuel 2 x great grandfather had a brother John on his death certificate it states his father was a John Samuel?
..
Any help would be much appreciated. I have also contacted the GRONI and they have no record. I have checked the Poor Records at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow nothing...
