I looked years ago for one but couldn't find anything.  I've just surfed the internet for any signs of an ABA Amateur Boxing Association database and there still isn't one.  H.M. Forces are keen on having boxing matches and they don't seem to keep any records either.

If the local Amateur boxing club is still in existence, I presume they would keep records so you might find them helpful.

There are a number of websites, but not so sure they cover amateur boxers, but try

http://boxrec.com/

http://www.boxinghistory.org.uk/index.html

http://www.londonexboxers.org.uk/

Depending on in which era, and which areas of the country, he was fighting in, you might search both local and specialist newspapers.   From an earlier era Sporting Life, Mirror of Life, Lloyds Weekly Newspaper and curiously the Illustrated Police News, all covered boxing matches with very descriptive reports.  Some of these can be found on searchable newspaper databases.

Good luck
