The copy you sent for is the same as the image you purchase online.

If you are referring to John and Mary's marriage cert, there isn't one.  It is a parish record which has been recorded on the Vic BDM.  They married prior to civil registration in Victoria.

Who was the informant on Mary Ann's birth certificate?

John was deceased by 1884.

Southland Times 28 Nov 1884
MARRIAGE
MURCHLAND-DYKES  At Kyneton, Victoria on 17th inst., by the Rev Jas W Tuckfield, Wesleyan Minister, John Murchland of Invercargill to Mary Ann, eldest daughter of the late John Dykes, Warrnambool, Victoria.

I suggest you contact the Warrnambool Family History Group.  They hold a lot of local records not only for Warrnambool but surrounding districts.

Yes, we also have the southland times death notice saying he was deceased by her wedding. The informant on Mary Anns birth certificate was to hard to read.

Did you contact the Research Office via their website?  I am very surprised at their lack of response.  The group has an excellent reputation.

What was the occupation of the informant on Mary Ann's birth certificate and their residence?

Who were the witnesses at Mary Ann's marriage?

I just remembered that as a very young researcher being told that 100's of burials at Port Fairy were not recorded but were being transcribed from DC's and parish records.  This was 25 years ago and was being done by a team of volunteers from Portland who hold a LARGE collection of information.  Try contacting 'History House on (0 three) 5 five 2 two 2 two 6 six' and ask them about your John and Port Fairy records too.  If a lady called Anne Grant still works there then she will definitely remember what I'm taking about re the Port Fairy transcriptions in the early 1990's.

This appears to be the the number.

I note that one of the births was registered at Tower Hill.  I wonder if John was a labourer on a farm.

Hi thanks , for all this i live in NZ ,so will have to figure out the area codes etc. I have contacted my mother to look up all the certificates ,as she has them. I have also thought that the death at Inglewood, is a likely contender.I also noticed a birth at Tower Hill (Samuel)? On Mary Anns birth cert, it say - 2 girls (one boy dead)Which a presume means she had 2 sisters when she was born, and a brother had died.Yes i did contact the Warnambool History Society on their website. Port Fairy did reply and have been really good though.Sorry because im in NZ and dont know the areas or how they operate , its just been a bit difficult.

The Australian country code is 61. When calling from outside Australia, leave out the leading '0' from the STD area code    613 5522 2266.  I would suggest contacting them by email or snail mail.

It's the small and often overlooked details that help break down brick walls.  You have the advantage of having the certificates and I find it difficult to help unless all the information is transcribed or a snip of the illegible parts are attached to a post.  Perhaps it's my age :-X :-X

Cheers
