McCann/Watson - Blackburn area
« on: Saturday 20 May 17 14:05 BST (UK) »
My Great-Grandfather was George Henry McCann b.1853 son of John McCann and Ellen Fishwick
Married Margaret Watson on 25 Nov 1876 in Blackburn - both Catholic

Margaret was born in Ireland, daughter of Samuel Watson. Does anyone know of a way to find her mothers name? The GRO copy of the marriage certificate does not list that and I can't find any entries on the Lancashire OPC site.

Also interested in exchanging any information with others researching McCanns that settled in the Blackburn area.

TIA
marc

No Watson witnesses at marriage?

I see that there is a Sarah Watson age 10 born Liverpool( niece) living with them in 1881 census.

What was father Sam's occupation on cert.

Hi Jackie

Samuel was deceased with an occupation of Warehouse Manager

Witnesses were Denis <illegible> (possibly White) and Isabella McCann (probably George Henry's sister)

Thanks

marc

Where in Ireland was Margaret born and when.

That is (part of) what I am trying to establish. Probably around 1855 and possibly in Carha, Mayo but with very little degree of certainty
