Android tablet and Skype
« on: Tuesday 23 May 17 21:05 BST (UK) »
Been trying to get Skype video to work on an android tablet and failed.  Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.1

Works fine from a Windows 10 laptop but not tablet. All software up to date.  Have reset tablet to factory settings. No other apps installed. Any ideas please. Thanks in advance

Good evening,

Not all galaxy tabs support the video calls, some only support audio calls. A quick google search will give you all the answers. I did have a look but too much info to remember to pass on to you. Can't give you a link as I am on my tablet.

A check on your help section in settings mayalso supply the answer.

Thanks for the reply. As you might have guessed I have looked on the www and tried lots of different "fixes" but still no video success even though audio works. The camera itself works well in still and video modes in front and back modes. Just thought someone might have had a solution that worked :-(

Works for me on Google Pixel C tablet (Android 7).

What is the symptom of the problem?

Does audio and video recording and playback work for other apps (Like Camera, Photos etc...)

Can you check that Skype app has the Android permissions to use camera and audio ?

On Skype test, click on video and the screen goes "in and out"

Audio no problem.  Records and plays back

Camera still and video both work OK

Skype app has all permissions ticked as far as I can tell

Skype works on laptop and desk top so have an idea how it works

Hmm... some things you may want to try here, to do with camera settings.....

Think I have tried those. As I said, camera itself works well

I have Galaxy Tab 2 , and Skype does work, but video  and sound quality is far better with Messenger.
