How to pay someone in Canada for a death certificate
« on: Wednesday 24 May 17 14:22 BST (UK) »
I want to order 2 death certificates from the Ontario Government website.  I don't have a credit card so opted to mail the application with an International Money Order.  They said for anyone outside Canada they Order must be made out in Canadian dollars and drawn on a Canadian clearing house.   I asked Natwest bank to provide me with an Order but they said they can't do that without the receiving person's Swift and Iban number.  I got back to the Canadian website but the lady there said I didn't need those details for the Order.  I'm tearing my hair out!   I've already printed out the stamp to go to Canada and must use it by tonight.

Has anyone ever used an International Money Order to another country successfully and, if so, how did you manage to do it please?

Susan

I haven't used a money order but might I suggest if there is a family member who has a credit card they could order them for you and then you reimburse them.

Or would a debit card be preferable?

Something to do with charges I think with credit cards?

Ask her for them anyway!  I'm sure the bank knows best what it does or doesn't need.
Hope you get something sorted out  :)

She also said she regularly receives Orders from England without supplying any details.

A suggestion,

Can you take the cash to another bank & have one made out although I think there's an added cost?

Thanks for the suggestion Annie.  I will find out if that's possible.

Susan

I think you might be confused and talking about 2 different things  :-\

International Money Order should be available from Post Office, etc.

International money transfers are something else- see Natwest's page-
