Irish record searching, assistance for a beginner
« on: Wednesday 24 May 17 16:38 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to assist a friend with some Irish family research but this is the first time I have had to search Irish records, so would appreciate any pointers with the limited information I have to work with.
We have:-
William John Quinn born 28.9.1942 (unknown where - but no likely match in England, Wales or Scotland)
Married in Grimsby in 1968  (there could potentially be other marriages from early 70's onwards, following divorce)
Died in Birmingham 1993

His father was Patrick Joseph Quinn - all that is known about him is that he was deceased by 1968 (as shown on William's marriage certificate).  Occupation of Patrick Joseph Quinn on marriage certificate was Superintendent Storekeeper - Bus Company.

Would be great to be able to narrow a birth down for William and info on his father.
Thank you.

Is there an address on the marriage cert?
What is the brides name?

I was hoping he worked for CIE in Dublin but I can't see a death to suit.
Other cities are of course possible.
