Samuel Shiels
« on: Wednesday 24 May 17 18:44 BST (UK) »
Hi!  I am looking for information about my Great Great Grandfather Samuel Shiels who died October 13 1878 in Aghadowey district of Coleriane Derry Ireland.  I was hoping to find a newspaper obituary .  If anyone could help me find that I would appreciate it very much.

Hello

Think I found his Will/probate. Left to Margaret, widow.

Any good?

Widow Margaret Shiells was granted premission to administer Samuel's estate as he left no Will-
Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Samuel Shiells late of Ballydevitt County Londonderry Labourer deceased who died 14 October 1878 at same place were granted at Londonderry to Margaret Shiells of Curragh (Milltown Ballymoney) in said County the Widow of said deceased. effects under £20.

Strangely enough, no sign of him in Valuation Revision Book 1865-1880 under Ballydevitt (or Margaret under Curragh 1864-1888).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks Janine and aghadowey yes it seems that must be him thanks for sending the Will.  It is strange that there is no sign of Samuel in the Valuation Revision Book .  More mystery I am beginning to think I am searching for a needle in a haystack!  Tomorrow I am on to looking for John Samuel and Margaret in Scotland so have signed up for Scotslandpeople.  Wish me luck!  I think this will cost me a pound or two!

Not what you were originally looking for but I've found details of 2 children of Samuel Shiels and Margaret Martin! Still putting it altogether and will post later  :)
