Searching William, John, Anne, Johanna, Catherine Ryan, Tipperary
« on: Thursday 25 May 17 03:09 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for information regarding these people born in Templederry RC parish in Tipperary, and especially hoping to find male descendants of the boys for a Y-DNA comparison.  Parents were Patrick Ryan (b. 1840) and Anne Ryan (b. 1835).

William Ryan, 30Jun1866
Catherine Ryan, 25Aug1868
John Ryan, 23Dec1870
Anne Ryan, 24Dec1872
Johanna Ryan, 2Sep1875

Thanks -- Mike Ryan

For Ryan on 1901 Census you get 11163 returns in Tipperary.

32 Williams age 35  (+/_5 yrs )  http://www.rootschat.com/links/01k5b/

You can then go to https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp and look for Marriages for them but you don't know the District so you need to look for those under these Districts.

Just put names in, NO District, plus year range 18 to 22 years after their Birth, then look at them on the Districts listed on left

Since you have some names and dates to start with it's far easier to find the registration district and then the townland(s) where the births took place. So, I searched for 'William Ryan' born '1866-1866' and found William's birth (born Foilnamuck) in Nenagh registration district-

Which makes it easier to find the other children-
Catherine (born Foilnamuck 1868)-

John (born 1870 Foilnamuck)

Anne (born 1872 Foilnamuck)

Johanna (born 1875 Foilnamuck)

A Martin Lynch in Foilnamuck in 1911- mother Anne Lynch (age 80 so born c1831) and stepbrother John Ryan (age 39 so born c1871)-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tipperary/Dolla/Foilnamuck/823009

In 1901 mother is Anne Ryan and 'brother' John Ryan is also in Lynch household-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tipperary/Dolla/Foilnamuck/1700237

Martin Lynch died  1929-

If you run into a brick wall tracing Ryan descendants then you could try searching for Lynch descendants to find living ones who might know something about your Ryan family.

Added- looking back through all your other Ryan posts and not sure you've thought about the possibility that Anne Ryan rather than her husband Patrick Ryan might be connected to your family. If true that would certainly change the possibilities for DNA connections.

Thanks for the advice.  I have already followed the trail "upstream" to the parents of these people, Anne Ryan (born 1835 in Foildarragh) and Patrick Ryan (born 1840, townland unknown).  Anne did marry Michael Lynch who died prior to her remarriage and all her children were born in Foilnamuck.

Given that I have Y-DNA test results, which can show correlations between male descendants (due to their having a Y chromosome), I'm looking now for men descending from these Ryan boys and who have taken a DNA test.  I'm trying to prove shared lineage with the Lynches in Foilnamuck and hopefully to prove that my Ryans originated in Cooneen.
