Ok 1861 we have this couple

Thomas Rule 28 born Hayle Cornwall
Celina 28 born Tatnell Cheshire
Mary Ann 5 born Birkenhead
John 2 born Birkenhead

Birth registrations for the children will confirm Celina's maiden name - which they do as Richardson - interesting.

What about this marriage - Dec 1853 Wirral

Thomas Rule
Silenar Richardson - yet another spelling of her name!
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

What would be really helpful is to know the brides father on the marriage to Thomas Rule.

I feel this one isn't yours because her birthplace is wrong isn't it?  Wasn't yours Manchester  :-\

This might rule Selina Rule out of the running

1851

Selina Richardson 18 servant born Tattenhall Cheshire

and your Selina is with family in 1851 so they are two different people who happen to have the same surname.

I say "your" Selina, depends which one you want really!

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

No mine was born and lived in  Birkenhead except 1871 Toxteth Liverpool

# modified
 mistake
Her daughter Elizabeth Rule was born in Birkenhead.       Selina WAs born Tattenhall

I think daughter Elizabeth Rule/MOFFAT may have been working in Manchester in 1881

I  hoped she'd be with relatives in 1901 and 1911 as no sign of her in Birkenhead

Thanks for all your hard work on this Millipede  if you find any more about the RULE s
Would you mind posting on the other topic

And i.ll keep this one to Richardson family so people aren't duplicating research
Thanks

First off, 'your' Selina who was married to Thomas Rule is definitely not the one who was dau. of John and Mary in Manchester 1841/1851 - that Selina was born in Manchester whereas 'your' Selina was born in Tattenhall, Cheshire!

As already pointed out, 'your' Selina Richardson was a servant in Birkenhead in 1851 (whilst the Manchester one was still in Manchester).

I have found 'your' Selina on 1841 census in Tattenhall, plus her baptism, and also her parents marriage - however, these are all in the name of Richards and not Richardson (don't know why) but by 1851 they have become Richardson and like Selina family are in Birkenhead.

1841 Tattenhall

Joseph Richards  35
Mary Richards  35
Ellenor (as transcribed but does look like that) 9
Dina 7
Ann 5
Joseph 18 months.

1851 Birkenhead

Joseph Richardson 44   Labourer
Mary Richardson 43
Anne Richardson 12
Joseph Richardson 11
John Bourker (?) stepson  22

Joseph Richards married Mary Bowker 8/10/1832 Tattenhall

Children:

Selena Richards bp.30/12/1832 Tattenhall, dau. of Joseph and Mary
Diana Richards bp.29/3/1835               ditto
Ann Richards bp.25/6/1837                  ditto
Joseph Richards bp.28/6/1840 Tattenhall, son of Joseph and Mary (GRO index confirms mmn was     Bowker).

Can't explain the change in surname, but Joseph married Mary as Richards, children born/baptised as Richards, 1841 Census Tattenhall as Richards - then family move to Birkenhead where they all become Richardson by 1851!    In 1861 still Richardson.

Great find Annette

Apologies for my slapdash postings

Memory .technology .eyestrain and predictive text all impeding research today

I hadn't intended to research selina s parents
So hadn't gone into much detail

I was just looking for whereabouts of her daughter

Will revise it all tomorrow and let the guy with the pic of Selina taken in Manchester in 1850','  know the findings

Thanks

To add to confusion we.ve been refering to Tattenhall Chester family
and Birkenhead family

But now i find Tattenhall Birkenhead Cheshire is a place

It depends how censor records births  !

so the Tattenhall family ..parents Joseph RICHARDSon + Mary BOWKER hadnt moved far from  1832 Selina RICHARD (RICHARDSON ) birth

to 1851 census even if they had become Richardsons instead of Richards then

Anyway i can eliminate the manchester born selina richardson

Im investigating closer relatives but will bear in mind that Tattenhall is a district of Birkenhead

you truly are super sleuths thanks

and I'm pleased to say The portrait photo IS

"our" Selina RULE
Mother of ELIZABETH MOFFAT nee RULE +
wife to  Thomas  RULE

so I dont need to identify   who her parents and siblngs  to proove that

but  they still could lead  to Elizabeth Moffet's whereabouts  in 1901   1911
Thanks again all
