I think I have finally cracked the mystery as to why Elizabeth Jopling was with the family on the 1881 census. Seems her first marriage was to a Bainbridge, and she had a daughter called Jane, who married William White in 1852, and William White was the father of Margaret Ann who marriedJohn Vasey Johnson. So the Census has her [Elizabeth as mother in law, but should have been grandmother in law]. I must thank everyone who has had input to this query, if it were not for all the help I have received, I would not have even touched first base.

Pleased the theory I offered checked out and you are happy with it.
It was lucky that Elizabeth had such a definite birth place consistently recorded in the census returns over the years which made it easier to track her back.
