Missing medal
« on: Friday 26 May 17 14:04 BST (UK) »
I have not seen a sticky post relating to tracking down missing medals but I believe there are means to find missing medals...

I have my grandfather's WW1 and WW2 medals following a career in the RMLI and then Royal Marines. His father did 25 years in the RMLI for which he was awarded a RN long service and good conduct medal. I would be interested to know whether there are non-supernatural means of tracking whether this medal may have been sold over the years. He died at a fairly young age when his 4 sons were all young boys but they later joined the RMLI. Perhaps the medal got passed on... The middle two sons do not seem to have passed the medal on to their descendants.

His name is Benjamin Thomas Pope with a RMLI Plymouth Div service number of 871. The medal looks to have been issued in 1895. I suspect this is long lost but any ideas for what I could do to investigate further would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Matt
