Hi amondg - Ohh - I'm not sure that it is my family - they are so similar yet different.  I have the children of William and Jane Finigan as Agnes b.11 Feb 1883, William James b.1869, John Edward b.Jan 1866 and Sarah Frances (Fanny) b.Nov 1863.  I don't have baptismal records for any so church could be right.  William James I don't have a wife or child so its possible he became a priest.
The 1881 Census is the right family with the correct names.

PS for Jolyon - I had searched St Luke's cemetery as being near where they lived.  I don't think they always stuck to the religion so may have been buried there.  I found that St Luke's cemetery is now derelict and remains were transferred to Southern Cemetery.

Hi again daisynook,

Do you have any info on the transfer of remains from St Luke's, Cheetham to Southern Cemetery please?   This has obviously passed me by.

New GRO index
There are 2 Jane McMullen' with different spellings who died 1879 Manchester registration.

Jane McMillen age 52 ref 08d page 218

Jane McMullan age 36 ref 08d page 153

The baptisms I gave you are for the children of William and Jane McMullen whose maiden name was Finnegan

Sorry for delay, had to go and do dinner!
Thanks everyone for the information and help.  Its very confusing with Frances and Sarah Ann.  I had Sarah Frances (Fanny) who married Francis Cox and George Lindsey.  Perhaps the other one Frances died.

For Jolyon - Are you registered with FindAGrave?  This is the link to the page with the explanation on https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2595302  Hope this is what you were looking for.
