Yes, and I can't find an earlier marriage for James either.

If the second marriage for William to Mary Warboys in 1822 is correct, and I'm sure it is, Mary born 1816 would have to be the daughter of William and Elizabeth which fits nicely with baby Elizabeth (1839) if she was Mary's child, being named after her mum.

Just need to keep looking for Mary's christening (if daughter) or a marriage (if daughter in law)...easy!   ;D ::)

It appears that William and Elizabeth's son John Audley (b.1819) sadly died aged 15.

The National Burial Index has John Audley born 1819, buried on 14 December 1834 aged 15, in St Peter's, Tempsford.

Still no sign of Mary (b.1816) origins unfortunately.

Thanks for all the additional information I am now starting to write it all up in a logical way and will probably come back requesting clarification on a number of points.

Pauline J correctly identified the family in both the 1851 census and the 1841 census. I was looking at Ancestry and in 1851 they are transcribed as Ardley!! and in the 1841 census are transcribed as Aubleie on Ancestry as trish1120 points out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

trish1120 has given me the names of fathers as trish 1120 states  Yes she did, Fathers WILLIAM Audley, Labourer and JOSEPH Colwell, Gamekeeper. Can trish1120 please advise, what website she used to get the fathers names?

Cazza59 I still have all your comments to read through  I will be back for clarification

this maiht be a small spanner

AUDLEY, MARY  ANN      mmn BROWNING
Q3 1843  BIGGLESWADE  Volume 06  Page 64

suggests she's James and Esther's daughter, born soon after they married, rather than Mary's

Hi All,

I have summarised the key information below in date order

11th January 1815 Marriage William Audley to Elizabeth Raynes At Tempsford

29th June 1817 Christened at Tempsford James son of  William and Elizabeth presumably Audley
3rd October 1819 Christened at Tempsford John  son of William & Elizabeth presumably Audley
3rd March 1822 Burial Elizabeth Audley at Tempsford
1st July 1822  Marriage  Presumably William Audley to Mary Warboys at Great Barford (4miles rom Tempsford)
1st June 1823 Christened at Tempsford Ann daughter of William and Mary presumably Audley
14th December  Burial at St Peters Tempsford John Audley aged 15 (source NBI)
23rd May 1843 Burial in St Peter's Anglican Church Tempsford, Bedfordshire Mary Audley aged 27 source NBI

Q2 1843 James Audley married Esther Browning
Q3 1843 Birth Mary Anne Audley mothers maiden name Browning
10th arch 1844 Burial in St Peters Tempsford Mary Anne Audley

Its  a pity we cannot find a Christening or a marriage for Mary Audley who was buried 23rd May 1843 she should have been christened before James
I wonder what happened to  Ann christened 1st June 1823.

trish 1120,

I am still following up the information you gave me.
In one of your replies you tell me that:
William Audley married Elizabeth Raynes at Tempsford on 11th January 1815

When I look at the Familysearch website for the marriage I get the following two entries:
William Audley married Elizabeth Raynes at Tempsford on 11th January 1815
and
William Audley married Elizabeth Bacis at Tempsford on 11th January 1815

How would you interpret the above two marriage records?

I saw those two entries on FindMyPast.  I had the same situation and the answer in my case was that the person had married twice so the entry was recorded in her maiden name and also her married name.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to verify this in your case.

I did find a baptism for Elizabeth Raynes on 12 Oct 1794 at Northill, Bedfordshire, parents Richard and Mary Raynes.

No sign of a first marriage to a Bacis, so perhaps this is a mis-transcribed entry but how you get Bacis from Raynes is anyone's guess.   Elizabeth would have been widowed young as she was 24 when she married William Audley.  Of course, she did sadly die young herself (27).

Still no sign of a c1816 baptism for Mary Audley either.
