Back again,
The "long shot" has come home.  Off to Springsure in the morning (Sunday) to meet up with a woman who was very, very excited to hear from me.  Well actually to hear some one was interested in the memorial tablet and especially from Northern Island.
Believe it or not, her (I think) GGGrandfather lived in the same place as Robert PATTON (Northern Island) and also came out here on the same ship.  His name being McLaughlin or similar spelling.  I will be getting as much info. as possible and a photo of the tablet.
I think I'm as excited as her as being able to help someone with this.
Till tomorrow, will charge the camera up now.
Please let me know if there is anything you may especially want to know so I can ask her.
Till tomorrow.  bee :) :) :) :

Hi, Nice that there was a tablet erected for Robert Patton, well done chasing that one up mrs.bee.5.

The the Queensland State Archives have 3 archived items for a Robert Patton

Series ID, 1215, Item ID, 2327652, Record type, Legal Agreements.

Series ID, 4486, Item ID, 2803013, Record type, Ecclesiastical Will.

Series ID, 5739, Item ID, 2704677, Record type, Register - Justices of the Peace.

Search under catalogue for Robert Patton.

Gerry

Generally, a death certificate is included with a will. Whether or not this is the case for deaths which occurred abroad, I don't know. If you would like to continue with this search and are interested in the contents of Robert's will, let me know and I can do a look up for you at the State Archives.  :)

Thank you everyone for all your help. I just didn't expect to find out so much about Robert. It is a strange feeling being in the same house where Robert would have grown up and taken leave of his family all those years ago to head off to Australia for a new life!

Ruskie. I would very much appreciate it if you could do a look up at the State Archives for me. I have information about his siblings - a sister Mary who predeceased him and a brother Joseph who was a lawyer in England. I found from one of the Australian newspapers that after his death Robert's land was transferred to Joseph Patton who would have been his next of kin.

Bee. You are amazing! Thank you so much for this. I can't believe that your contact's ancestors came from this area. A small world. I don't have any information about the ship Robert emigrated on and would love to have details of this and any other Limavady people who may have travelled with them.  McGonigle is quite a common name in this area but if I am able to help this lady in any way I would be delighted to do so! I have a feeling there is someone in our FH Society who is researching this name. I look forward to hearing from you after your visit to Springsure.

Hello,
Have the photos and have tried several times, as you can see, without any luck.  The kids are going to try tonight with me.  THEY WILL BE SEEN.  bee

Cyclamen,

I will try to get to the Archives in the next week or two.  :)

As well as the will is there anything else you would like me to check for you?

Many thanks Ruskie. I think information from the will and possibly the death certificate, if there is one, is all I need. Look forward to hearing from you. Bee has come up trumps with photos of the tablet!
