St WILFRID'S Bishop Aukland
« on: Sunday 28 May 17 12:28 BST (UK) »
Please has anyone access to the parish records of St Wilfrid's Roman Catholic church in Bishop's Aukland. I think children of John and Bridget McMullen were baptised there between 1879 and 1899.
I am trying to find a marriage for John McMULLEN  and Bridget BRADY just before 1879 (from censuses she was born 1862
Thank you

Hi Trees, you need to modify your heading and posting, as the dedication of this church is St Wilfrid.

The registers are deposited at Durham Record Office. http://www.rootschat.com/links/01k65/

this looks so right BUT if the censuses are correct she would only have been 13 or 15!
1881  21 born 1860
1891 30 born 1861
1901 41 born 1860
1911 49 born 1862
my particular interest is with Susannah GRO has her mother as BRADY and she appears on the censuses after marriage as born Bishop's Auckland 1879 so it all fits so well
I wonder had they just come to England and how dod they get away wts concent ...oh unless Patrick bought his family here from Kilkenny I need to look for him on a census

I would also have expected them to have had more children before the Bishops Auckland baptisms.

How many years married does the 1911 say

Good thinking
1911 married 33 years 13 children 8 living 5 dead
Starting with Susanna we have found all 13 births and five deaths using the GRO index and mother Brady for each birth.
So yes it looks like the marriage should be 1878 not 1875 and there are no missing children. Shame it looks so good I am thinking they married in Ireland. I found Patrick Brady on censuses he and family are in Co Durham from 1861 and don't have a Susanna with them on any census
