Frederick L Oliver - 1911 - Strange parental situation.
« on: Monday 29 May 17 21:54 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to push this family back a generation or two, and seem to have hit a brick wall already.

I have;

Frederick L Oliver
Born on 01 January 1911 in Sculcoates, East Yorkshire.

On the 1911 census he is incorrectly transcribed as 'Frederc R Oliver', but on the 1911 census record it is clear it says Frederick Oliver. Now his mother is just confusing.

At first glance he looks like an illegitimate son of Nellie E Oliver who is living with another family...but the 1911 census shows Nellie E Oliver being married for 1 year with no husband present.

I can not find any evidence of this, and was wondering if she just pretended she was married because of the illegitimate son; and she had been thrown out of her family home or something?

Can anyone help shed any light on this?

Many Thanks!

Thankyou for all of your replies so quickly.

Is the Nellie E Oliver, married for 1 year at 18 year old a misleading entry then? If she is the parent of 4 month old Frederick...she couldn't really have been married in 1901.

I think you need to look at the 1911 census where the Frederick born 1911 is living with his parents and siblings Leave out the middle initial for both father and son. I found it by putting in Frederick Oliver born Yorkshire, no date of birth and spouse Elizabeth.
The boarders name will clinch it being the couple married in 1901

According to Yorkshirebmd the 1901 marriage of Annie E Nelson to Frederick L Oliver took place at St Paul's church in Hull, and the marriage cert is available to view if you have a sub for Findmypast.

I'm viewing the 1911 census with Frederick Oliver born 1911 with a completely different family?
