Army censors - REME
« on: Tuesday 30 May 17 14:25 BST (UK) »
Can anyone explain the system whereby letters from soldiers were censored? i.e. who did the actual censoring? I have reference numbers and names (e.g. Censor no 14877
2/5/44    E. Chetts
9/5/44   B. A. Snow
13/5/44   D. M. Bruce

In May 45
“To start with censorship within the unit has ended and letters are only censored at Base..." What's the difference between the unit and the base? and was incoming mail censored?
