Dell failing to open.

I have a Dell P.C. and the problem that I have is that, when I switch on, the Dell picture comes on but stays locked.  How can I correct this?

This works for some people..

Unplug it

Take out the battery and disconnect anything attached to it

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to discharge any built up static

Install battery again and Boot Up

Another reason could be with anything that is plugged into it, USB Printer etc, disconnect everything and try Booting Up with nothing else plugged into it

How else does a laptop work when you are on the road??

If your only getting the Dell screen means the program isn't loading. It could be an HD failure. You could try starting in safe mode as this will load just the basic drivers if it's some other fault.
Restart & keep pressing F8.

Hallmark, I did as you suggested.  When I switched it back on it had corrected the fault.  You help is really appreciated and a big thank you.
