Looking for Will of George Carrick d Aug 1822 Tonbridge
« on: Friday 02 June 17 02:55 BST (UK) »
George Carried husband of Mary died Aug 1822 Tonbridge, Kent.  On his headstone is said that he had 10 children and to date I can only be certain of 7.

Thus my thoughts turned to locating a will [on the off chance he has left one].

Where might I locate his Will??

Try the Kent Records Office.
There isn't one listed on the PCC wills on ancestry

November 1794 Speldhurst Kent he took and apprentice, he was a butcher by trade.

1798 on the Tax lists at Groombridge Kent.

Did any of the known children leave a will and perhaps mention brothers and sisters.

Hi Westy,

There is no Will listed at the National archives for a George Carrick.  Nor, is there any listing for him on the Canterbury Cathedral Canterbury Probate Records.

Ironically, I worked in Tonbridge for 13 years at the Castle, just a few minutes walk from the Church.

Tony

Hello amondg & Tony,

As to Wills from known children: not known at this point in time.

Interesting that perhaps the children spent a lot of money on a large headstone for their parents but the father didn't have a Will.  I suppose he hadn't thought he needed one as he was only 59 when deceased.

Will solder on and see if I can locate more children to get to the magic 10.  Thanks Tony for his trade and for another possible location to check for any births.
