Death Certificate query

Hi,

I've very recently obtained the death certificate of - I hope - one of my Irish ancestors.  On the certificate under 'Rank, profession ... etc' it says 'independent class'.

Is there anyone out there who could tell me what that means exactly?  I know what I think it means ie someone of independent means who did not need a job or the state to keep them, but I would like confirmation if possible.

There is a section that might be appropriateIV ! house and land proprietors, those ‘living off interest’ or ‘of independent means’, annuitants
and paupers were placed in Classes I, I, I, II, and V respectively;

Depending on when and where they died in Ireland you might be able to see online what size estate that person left.
