Flaybrick cemetery plots
« on: Saturday 03 June 17 10:34 BST (UK) »
I`ve located a couple of graves and have both section and grave numbers. There are 8 people in one, 1st buried at 9 feet !

Does anyone know if graves now are marked with the numbers. I  have no idea if there is a headstone .
Last person buried was 1917.

Are you sure of the cemetery as Landican opened in 1934?

A plot with 8 in might be a common grave so unlikely to have a head stone.

You'll need to contact the cemetery office during office hours as you have the names, dates, and plot numbers.

It was  Flaybrick, opened in 1864.

I don`t have a modify option to correct my mistakes

The growth in the population of Birkenhead led to the opening of the first municipal cemetery in Wirral, Flaybrick Cemetery (originally Birkenhead Cemetery), in 1864.

The 8 people are all members of the same family, all with the same surname.
2 Grandparents, 6 grandchildren. 6 of these  have the same address. 2 others at another address.

I've changed the topic title.

That was some foresight to buy such a large plot.

You still need to contact the office though, they should have all the details.

Thanks, I`ve sent them an email.
These are the burial depths.
9ft. 1 aged 52
7ft.  4  aged 4, 3, 1 and 3 months.  ER
6ft. 1 aged 74
5ft. 1 aged 21 months
4ft 9in. 1  age 6
Two of the children were buried 20 days apart.

On  the 7 ft burial  which were consecutive  it has ER,   I wonder what that meant, could it be extra row ?

Most of the burial entries in the register are 9 foot.  Hard work for the grave diggers all that time ago.
