If it will help I found him in Queensland Australia, unknown when he arrived there.  Located a marriage certificate for March 1897, he was aged 39 years, birthplace looks like Barbruken? Germany.
father was Henry Herman, mother Catherine Grundel

Hi Dannemois

Marriage:  23.10.1855 Herrmann, J.H., Tagloehner und C. Grundel, Mallstatt

Birth:       5.1.1856 Joh. Jacob, Sohn von J.H. Herrmann, Tagloehner, Mallstatt

Birth:       26.1.1859 Luise Henr. Tochter von J.H. Herrmann, Tagloehner, Malstatt

A very kind person has transcribed for Ahnenforschung.Net Birth-,Marriage- and Death Registers for Saarbruecken from 1827 to 1859 which appeared in the local paper. Unfortunately a couple of the registers for April are missing. http://www.f0orum.ahnenforschung.net/showthread.php?t=37087
It's easy to read as family names are mostly bolt.

I found Jacob Valentin in the "Deutsches Steckbriefregister 1879 "(Hermann, Jacob Valentin, aus Malstatt, Polizeiproklamation zur Person)

Hope this helps, regards Peonie

Hello Peonie
I found his naturalization papers only yesterday.  The rootschat link you sent I had not seen before and found it very interesting.  Many thanks for your efforts and time, your help is much appreciated.

Regards, Dannemois
