Scotlands people searches
« on: Sunday 04 June 17 18:09 BST (UK) »
Hi I know my ancestor Peter Brechin or Brichen is in oldmeldrum in 1841 and 1851 yet a search for him doesn't come up. I already have the records, but it's worrying for other searches if something I know is there doesn't come up.

Have I typed something incorrectly or is the search engine lacking? I tried exact name, name variant, and phonetic searches.

Thanks
Aberdeenshire; Brechin, Robb, Clark, Hardie, Johnston, Watt, Elmslie, Milne, Harper, Adam, Edmond, Laing, Gibson, Aedie, Jameson, Argo & Doverty.
Booth, Watson, Grothenwell, Ewen, Mackie, Simpson, Piper, Taylor, Davidson, Willox, Chalmers & Gordon
Still, Fraser, Robertson, Burnet & Lumsden
Banffshire; Cruickshank, Bennet, Broug, Allen, West & Lyal
Caithness; Sutherland
Herefordshire, Worcester, Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire; Wagstaff, Jones, Turner, Wiggett, Hannes

Hi, Thanks to you both but please do not spend too much effort on finding them, as I said I have him and family on both censuses. Just annoying that SP cant find him....

Ev what search terms did you use to find him in 1841?

Rosie yes that is him on North Turnpike. Are those details from SP?

I'm more concerned that SP won't find families I don't have if this is the level of searching they produce. I haven't used them at all since the they changed ownership, but I seem to think that this type of mistake wouldn't have happened previously, or have I rose tinted glasses?

1841 Peter Brichen age 27 Old Meldrum Aberdeen on SP.

I also note in 1851 William Brichen age 71 Old Meldrum on FreeCEN seems to be down as William BACHIE age 71 Old Meldrum on Scotlandspeople.
