Robert Emma and Archie McKay West Derby
« on: Sunday 04 June 17 21:48 BST (UK) »
I have the McKay family Robert b 1883 Emma  b 1885 and Archie McKay b 1888 in the 1901 census in West Derby along with their father Robert and his wife Agnes Mary.. I can see what happened to Robert snr and Agnes but the children seem to disappear. Can anyone point me in the right direction .. This has been a long established dead end for me  ,, Many thanks

Aren't Robert and Archie (as Archibald) still with their parents in 1911 or is that a different family? We can't give information from this census I'm afraid.

What happened to them - that might give us a clue where the children are.

I can't see any of them after 1901.

I think that they are.
Robert is married with a child.
Perhaps Emma is married. I will try to find a marriage

There is a possible marriage for Emma K McKay and James  O Cleghorn in 1903 West Derby Register Office or Registrar attended

added: don't think it is the correct Emma

They are the family in Bootle in 1901 and (according to the free 1911 index) they remained there, right?  I am not sure why you say they disappear.

Archibald's birth was registered Jun qtr 1887 West Derby (mmn Morrison) rather than 1888 as you have it.

Are you descended from one of their children?  If so - which one?

Was he Archibald Forbes McKay?  If so - there is a marriage on freebmd in 1908

Have you looked for marriages for Robert & Emma after 1901 given they were born in the 1880's

There is an Emma Kate McKay marriage in 1903 to James O Cleghorn and several Robert McKay marriages between 1901-1911

Check the 1911 for Emma Cleghorn to see if she matches your Emma's profile

We need tryggo to confirm if that is the correct family in 1911 as that shows the marriage status of the two boys, only Robert is married.

Just reading through the thread but with names mentioned I feel there's a good possibility there may be Scottish connections?
