Ann Atkinson, nee Davis
« on: Monday 05 June 17 15:05 BST (UK) »
Hello

Would anybody be able to look up the burial 1911 of Ann Atkinson whose death was reg 1st quarter Pontefract age 74 yrs.

I am wanting to check if this is Ann Davis bn Brotherton 18th Mar 1836 who married Thomas Atkinson 26th Aug 1854.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

Her burial record would not show her maiden name.

A copy of her death cert may show her husbands name but not guaranteed

As she was only 18 when she married - how did she come by 2 surnames?  Was she illegit born as Brotherton and mum married Davis?

If I have the right 1901 entry - they were living in the Howden RD and you will find her in 1911 still in the Howden RD

The 1911 census was taken on 2nd April so the March qtr 1911 death cannot be her

Hello

This is Thomas and Ann in 1901:-
1901 Census

RG13/4301 Folio 49 Page 96

9 Lumley Street, Whitwood

Thomas Atkinson, Head, 71 yrs. Living on own means, Bn. Monk Fryston
Ann Atkinson, Wife, 66 yrs. Bn. Brotherton
Richard   ,,      Son, 28 yrs. Un. Above Ground Coal ...., Bn. Castleford
Mary        ,,      Dt. 21 yrs. Un. Bn. Castleford

They do not appear in 1911, I think Thomas probably dies 1907, death reg 1st quarter, Pontefract. Ann probably dies 1911 with death reg 1st quarter Pontefract. I think her death appears on a well known site which I do not have access to, that will give me her place of burial and will go a long way to confirming I have the correct Ann. The place of birth of Ann is Brotherton, Yorks and all of their married life they lived Whitwood which is very close to Brotherton.

Many thanks

Bob
