Had another quick look for Ellen's burial record but couldn't find anything.  Checked CE churches closest to Abbey Street and also Our Lady and St Josephs ( catholic).  There doesn't appear to be any records for St Mary's for that period which is unfortunate.

Hi
Thank you very much.  That's really appreciated.

The Stickleys originated from Dorset.  My gggrandfather was demobbed on ill health grounds at Carlisle Castle and married Margarret Mulvihill / Mullvey etc in Carlisle RC a few years later.

They were mostly under the Parish Church with the odd Non Conformist.  The branch who were married to my family became RC at some point

Now it looks as if he was married before to a very young bride.
Best wishes

Hi agaon

Ive been looking at your kind copy of part of the entry  I.ve realised I'm not quite sire what it means.  Was the secons name given under the Christian name with Stickley in a second column?

It looked like a surname  But maybe I should be looking at Christian names or parents names used as a second name

Thanks

Emms :)

Hi Emms
I've attempted to clean the pic up a bit. ( sorry took it on my phone). It's in the second column, which gives the full name and the following column gives the person's status. First column is just the number of the entry. It definitely says  ?  or Stickley, so isn't a forename.
I've included the entry above and below for you to compare.
Julie
Ps could it Fleming?

Hi Julie  :) ;D >:( ;D ;D

I'm really sorry. I've not been on recently as we've had a lot going  on.  I was convinced I'd replied to your post. I really appreciate your help. Thank you for all the photos

It looks as if this is definitely an earlier wife.

I've never found the marriage but I must have another look with other spellings and in Scotland's people. This has been a mystery so long!

Thank you again!

Merry Christmas
