Elizabeth Galley
« on: Monday 05 June 17 21:13 BST (UK) »
Hi All struggling to work this one out looking for a possible Marriage between Elizabeth Galley To surname Anthony/Antony, not much to go on from this so i will work backwards with the facts i have.
Elizabeth Anthony marries my great grandfather Thomas Robinson 2nd April 1882 in Sheffield she is down as a widow aged 39 fathers name is William Galley a stonemason probably born 1822 Middlesex London, Elizabeth was born in Sheffield abt 1842/1843 she can be found on the 1891 census with Thomas and his children but also with her own daughter Annie Elizabeth Antony who is aged 18 not sure if that was her only child but she would have been born abt 1872/1873 meaning a good chance the marriage would be abt 1870/1871 but can't find it if anyone can help. Regards Richard

Hi Elizabeth in 1851 is at 16, Duke Lane, Sheffield, as Elizabeth Tentor Galley ( could be Taylor ) aged 9 , her parents William & Mary Ann did not marry until 23rd January 1845 Sheffield Cathederal, the last daughter born on the 1851 census is Martha Ellen Galley Dec qtr 1850 Sheffield v22 page 685 mmn Taylor, so possibly Elizabeth married as a Taylor?

Possibly
If her name had been written as Galloway -it is possible Elizabeth married John Taylor 12 Jan 1868

but that would make the marriage date to James Anthony not fit??

this is a puzzle

I would say she married James Anthony 1863 as Elizabeth Taylor (daughter of Mary Ann Taylor who married William Galley)    In 1871 the family is:

James Anthony (Stone Mason)
Elizabeth Anthony
Henry Anthony
Emma Anthony

James dies 1876
